This publication includes many bird stamps from Australian Antarctic Territory, Papua New Guinea & Christmas Island, & some from Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Nauru & Norfolk Island, as well as all other stamps issued by these places. It provides photos in actual size, dates of publication, value & brief notes,Stamps scanned with CanoScan N12200 & edited with ArcSoft PhotoStudio 2000; many magnified 1½ - 2 times. Some of the non magnified stamps were kindly emailed to me from her collection by Dr Barbara Ellis.Update: 14 Apr 2006

This pair of Palm Cockatoos from North Queensland was an innovative design, used not to illustrate birds, but in a series to celebrate Australian Innovations. They used a black bird to represent the Black Box Flight Recorder invented here in 1951. I have enlarged the stamp to over twice its length so you can almost read the print on it. Even now the scan looks to me like "Back Box" whereas I was disappointed to see I don't have a rare misprint -- the stamp says "black box".
A few Antarctic Birds, especially penguins
